Emir Fakhreddine used Baakline as his residence and a base for the administration of Shouf, Aley and the West.

Between 850 and 950 elevation, Baakline is 45 km away from the capital Beirut. It has an area of 1,350 hectares or 13.5 km2. Its residents are about 14,550 persons.
